Inspiration for Autumn / Fall Celebrations

The magnificent colors of Autumn are inspiration enough for any wedding. Reds, golds, oranges, browns, and greens can be incorporated in just about every aspect of the wedding including the flowers and bridesmaid dresses.

A harvest theme, "Fall in Love" leaf motif, or a fall fruit such as ripening apples can also provide a great base for an Autumn inspired wedding. When it comes to the reception decorations or centerpieces, focus on nature's abundance and utilize things leaves, pumpkins, berries, apples,
and wheatsheafs.

Why not add a soft heather colour to the mix

The Pippa Middleton Dress

Just when you thought all the fuss of the Royal Wedding had died down, there is more news on the "Pippa Middleton Dress"

Net-a-porter.com, an online retailer is now stocking the Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress Pippa Middleton wore to her sister Duchess Catherine's wedding.

A near-identical version of the dress worn by Pippa Middleton at her sister Duchess Catherine's wedding to Prince William has gone on sale on the UK site, while it is available to reserve from other parts of the world.

The cowl-neck, silk-crepe gown retails at £1,995 with only minor tweaks to the original - the most prominent of which is a zip playing substitute to the original buttons seen on the spine of the dress.

British high street retailer Debenhams announced plans to produce a replica £170 version of the dress after being 'inundated' by requests from customers earlier in the year and the dress sold out in minutes.
Everyone expects this one to be just the same.

Children Or No Children At Weddings

Well the very first thing to consider when you are drawing up your guest list is whether or not you are going to have a children attending your wedding. It really is a personal choice, some people love having the buzz of lots of children around, others prefer to keep things more formal and decide it should be adults only. If you decide that you wish your wedding to be adults only, then do remember to make it clear on your invitations, and for guests who have children make sure that their invitations are sent out well in advance in order for them to make childcare arrangements. If things are clear from the start parents are less likely to be upset about not bringing their children. In fact most parents welcome the chance to have a break for the day.

If you are intending to have children on the day, then make sure you factor in their needs too.
Here are some ideas of how to keep your younger guests happy.

1. Childrens menu
make sure you have made arrangements for a childrens food option, when you are paying for meals its best to decide on something unfussy for them to eat, such as pizza, or chicken nuggets, or simply a child sized portion.  At some weddings couples decide to have a separate table for children, but this really depends on the age of the children, do they need assistance with feeding? most parents are happy to keep their children close especially during the meal.

2.  Table activities
To keep the children entertained during the speeches a good idea is to provide table activities
such as colouring books & bubbles

There are plenty of options that can be purchased online, beautiful bags and boxes that are already filled with activities and toys.

Equally and especailly for budget savvy brides, it is very simple to put together your own activity packs for the children to do, you could even use pictures that have been printed from one of the many free printable children websites. Colouring books, pens, puzzles are relativly inexpensive.
For older children, how about disposable cameras, this gives them the opportunity to record the day themselves by taking some fun photos.

3. Activity table
Another Great idea is to set aside space for your own childrens activity table, especailly great if you have younger children attending.

The table should be colourful and you can let your imagination run wild, puzzles, drawing, games, bubbles.

4.  Creche /entertainers
If your budget allows you could always look at hiring another room and hiring creche services, and entertainers for a few hours to keep the children amused and happy. Facepainting, balloon modelling and magicians are always popular. Always make sure if you are hiring childcare that staff are certified and experienced.

5.  Outdoor games
One idea I used for my special day was outdoor games, we had a beautiful outdoor location surrounded by lawns and fields. As we had a few children attending we purchased some large outdoor games, activities such as giant Jenga, chess, noughts and crosses, giant pick up sticks. These went down very well and can be enjoyed by your older guests too.

So having children at your wedding need not be chaotic, with a little prior planning, children and parents can all enjoy celebrating your special day.

More on Winter Wedding Themes

I think of all the themes winter weddings are my favourite, snow, crystals, sparkle, fairy lights, log fires candles, just some of the things that spring to mind. Its the opportunity to be creative and espcially if its a christmastime wedding there is a vast choice of decorations available to compliment your theme. You can spray branches and make wishing trees for the tables and decorate them with beautiful crystals or hanging tealights.

Silver and white give a classic elegance but you can still enhance your winter theme with a dash of colour

Pale and Ice Blue are perfect accent colours, using baubles is a really great budget idea for table decorations.

Deep Blues are perfect, i love this dress with its additional cosy shrug

Dark greens and purple accents give a beautiful classy touch of colour

Gold for a glamourous touch

We Remember Them...........

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11 month, the world falls silent to remember those who have given their lives for us. As a mum with 2 children who serve in the the forces i am always proud and honoured, whilst they may not be in the direct line of action they work as part of a team to serve their country.

So on this day of rememberance i have put together some inspiration that uses the very symbol of rememberance "the poppy", whilst we often associate the poppy with such an occasion, the poppy is a stunning flower so do not be afraid to use it as a theme for your special day.

If you do not decide to have it as a main focus of your theme, a perfect tribute to maybe an absent friend or relative could perhaps be incorporated into your day.

Bridal Hair Gallery

All Brides want to look totally stunning on their special day, they want their grooms to have the wow! factor when they first see their beautiful bride walking down the aisle.
Of course all the focus is not entirely on the dress, just as important is the hair, make up and accessories.
Today i thought we could take a look at some of the most popular bridal hair styles.

Whether or not you have long or short hair, thinking of an up do or down do, dont forget to think of a couple of important factors.

The type of wedding you are planning, are you going for a very formal affair, or are you going for a more relaxed civil ceromony or garden wedding.

When exploring different styles a good hairdresser will also consider factors such as the type of dress you will be wearing, and the style of neckline. Also they will will work with a style that suits the shape of your face and what kind of accessories you are considering, such as are you having a veil? tiara or flowers in your hair?

So here is a gallery of my favourite and most popular styles

Short and Sassy

 The Up Do

Just remember plan your hairstyle in plenty of time, try to avoid changing style or hair colour too close to the wedding. Always consult a Hairdresser and make sure you have a couple of trials before the big day itself. Another word of warning, make sure you choose a reputable hairdresser who you know is reliable, i have had experiences of the bride being let down on her big day by a hairdresser who doesnt make an appearance, the last thing anyone wants is a stressed out bride trying to do her own hair.
