Fitting Send Off for Wedding Pair

The owners of a local engineering firm who waited 25 years before tying the knot were given a steamy send-off at the White Horse Lodge Hotel last weekend, with a little help from their friends.

Wendy and Cyril Bainbridge said it was apt being given a send-off by the 14mph top-speed “Yorkshire Belle” steam traction engine, having taken their own relationship slowly and steadily.
The couple, from Cold Kirby, whose business, Bainbridge Engineering, makes handling equipment for the farming community, said they were delighted when customers, Alan and Peter Turner from Thomanby, turned up with their recently restored 1916 traction engine.
Wendy and Cyril held their wedding reception at the White Horse Lodge Hotel on Sutton Road, Thirsk.  The hotel is well placed to cater for local events and benefits from ample car parking and splendid views.  The couple were married earlier in the day at Laskill Country House at Hawnby, near Helmsley.
So for all you local brides who are looking for a beautiful location for your wedding reception check out the White Horse Lodge Hotel  Website
Working in partnership with the Hotel Jules Kelly of  White Rose Weddings, Celebrations and Events is organising a wedding fair on Sunday 19th May 11-3.30pm where lots of local exhibitors will be present, along with a bridal show at 12.00 and 2.30pm as well as live music.

Wedding Fair Season- White Bear Hotel Masham

Well we are in throws of wedding season here in the UK, everyone is on what I call the Wedding Fair Trail. What better way to get out there and meet brides face to face and there is nothing more exciting than talking to brides about their plans for their wedding day. Its even nicer if a bride has come to my stand for some tips or advice and I have been able to help. For me its not about making sales, or pushing my services on people, its about saying Hi, I am here if you need help or advice. My very nature is to be helpful and doing things for others. I appreciate how much is involved in planning an event, whether that is a Wedding or a Hen/Stag night, with busy lives not everyone has the time to fit everything in. A bride who is using a wedding planner is not using one because they are not capable, most brides who I work with already have plans or ideas, or are already organising their day. These brides know what they want, but sometimes need or like an extra pair or hands to get things done. That's usually where I come in, I chat to the venues, suppliers, I run around collecting things and making phone calls. Having lots of great contacts is also great, as by referring couples often my contacts will give them discounts off their services, as well as that, if I am recommending them, couples can be reassured these suppliers are reliable and reputable.

Wedding Fair Update

Well what a lovely day I had at the Hambleton Forum Wedding Fair, catching up with some suppliers and meeting some lovely brides. Its always so nice to hear a brides plans and what better way to get ideas for your special day and collect information on suppliers that you may need. What I would say is, we do not bite so please never feel awkward about discussing your plans. We are not there to simply pounce on you and get you to sign up or buy our products. Of course we hope that we may be able to help you with something, but certainly as a Wedding Planner I am happy to just chat and if you need any advice or pointing in the right direction then please always feel free to ask.
Wedding fairs should be an enjoyable experience, all part of the build up for the bride especially, even if you find one thing that captures your imagination then it has been a worthwhile visit.

I am now starting to organise a second Wedding Fair for local brides, this time we will have a bridal show and some live singers.
so watch this space!

Over the next couple of weeks I am hoping to catch up a little on my blog posts as I have been very busy, so amongst the inspirational posts I will be posting details of what I have been doing.

More Wedding Exhibitor Features

With our wedding fair fast approaching, here is another feature on some of our wonderful exhibitors who will be joining us on Sunday.

Arty Party

Arty Party is based in Thirsk and is the one stop shop for all your wedding and party needs. Chair covers, centrepieces, or balloons, whatever you need to transform your venue then you will find it here. Sharon is a certified balloon artist with many years experience, you have to see her creations to believe it. Sharon has done a large variety of events from birthdays and weddings to large corporate events.
Again as all the suppliers you will meet at our event, Sharon goes the extra mile for her clients.

Inspired By Script

Inspired by Script is run by the wonderful Sue Simpson, a professional calligrapher and lettering artist who has a lovely gallery located just off the high street in Northallerton.
Her work is unique and for the bride who is looking for some stunning wedding stationary then look no further. With everything from invitations, place cards, save the dates and seating plans to wedding post boxes. One thing I feel is really important when looking for wedding stationary is to always check the quality. I hear from too many brides who see a bargain on the internet and think they are going to save money, when in reality when their order arrives the work is substandard, sometimes even printed in the wrong language! then have to spend more money on getting things re-done.
So make sure you go over and meet Sue and see her wonderful work. I cannot recommend her highly enough, if you can't get to the wedding fair, then make sure you pop into her gallery.

MacVean Videography

What better way to capture the memories of your special day than to have it on film. Sarah Macvean has been filming special occasions for 6 years, she offers a friendly but professional service with a variety of bespoke packages.
From the start of your day right up to the end of your day she can capture all those special moments for you to relive over and over again for years to come. I highly recommend her work as her videos are simply stunning.
Again pop over and say hello

So don't forget, Sunday 17th February

Christmastime Preparations

Well its nearly upon us, the Christmas season and all its festivities. Like everyone it has been a very busy few weeks both on a professional and personal level.
Of course the usual rushing around buying presents, working out what size turkey I need and decorating the house with lots of twinkling lights and tinsel. I think that I may be ready in time although I would be quite happy to put it back a couple of weeks.

The new year is full of promises and exciting prospects. The year kicks of with the usual meetings with brides and suppliers, then is promptly followed by the Wedding Fair at Thirsk Racecourse, I am looking forward to meeting some new brides who would like a helping hand and some more contacts. I love networking, before I will recommend a supplier I feel its important to meet them, after all each bride wants a unique wedding so matching them with the right people is so important. The people I work with are always passionate about their work, its more than just a job to them and they always go above and beyond to assist brides in whatever way they can, to me that's what makes them special.

February also brings White Rose Wedding Fair to Hambleton Forum, Northallerton on February 17th - lots of my wonderful suppliers will be there to exhibit and again a chance to meet some lovely brides and bridegrooms. Its so nice hearing about their ideas and the plans for their day.
I also have another Wedding Fair scheduled for 19th May at the White Horse Lodge Hotel in Thirsk. So plenty to keep me busy.

One special wedding that I am involved in is that of my daughter, she is due to marry in April so there is still lots of Mother of the Bride jobs to do and making of 10 sweet trees, as all mums do they want their daughter to have the perfect day.

Just when I thought that my year couldn't get any better, I received a call from my daughter two weeks ago to announce the wonderful news that she is pregnant!! that's right, my first grandchild is on its way and oh dear do I suddenly feel old lol.

I have also been asked to organise and co-ordinate a charity event for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance at Ripon Spa Hotel in September 2013, I am really excited about having such a great tribute act, The Take That Experience will be joining us, I have seen them twice now and highly recommend them. So if your looking for a good night out keep an eye out for details.

I am soon to be working with a new wedding venue locally as their Event Co-ordinator, again exciting times. I love the challenge of bringing things together so again, Exciting times!

Not all my work involves on the day co-ordination or full planning, a large part of my work is negotiating with venues, recommending suppliers or just giving brides some practical advice.

Over the past year I have spent time developing something special for the DIY bride - my new planner can be found on my website, it is a beautiful ring binder that has everything a bride needs to plan her big day, complete with telephone and email contact with myself to add that little extra support. Brides seem to love them and are flying out.

The next week is full of school parties and performances, baking and preparing for the rest of the family to visit, so this will be my last blog until the new year. So my time will be spent with my youngest daughter as her excitement for the impending visit from Santa Claus reaches its height.

To all of my lovely followers, have a lovely Christmas and Peaceful New Year
